Join me and a collection of hand-picked clinicians and experts for Everyone Deserves Sex Ed’s newly expanded 40-hour sex educator certification, scheduled Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Oct. 7-8, 14-15, 2023 online!

This is a 6-day, 40-hour certification for anyone looking to jump-start their sex education career, participate in professional development, or become a valuable resource to their community. Over the course of three weekends, EDSE attendees will learn key information about human sexuality, intimate health, consent, relationships, and communication skills using an intersectional lens that is informed by social, disability, and racial justice frameworks.

Attendees also will be introduced to several models for responding to questions and sharing information, and trained to respond to sex-related questions in a concise, compassionate, and nonjudgmental manner. This training also may leave attendees with new insight into their own sexuality — a fun side effect of sex education training.

EDSE welcomes trainees of all experience levels and from any service-centered field, including:

  • Healthcare providers

  • Social services professionals

  • Youth mentors

  • Non-profit sector professionals

  • Mental health practitioners

  • Educators & advocates

  • Case managers

  • Treatment & recovery professionals

  • Adult industry professionals

This coursework will cover the basics of human sexuality, sexual health, and communication skills in order to provide attendees with a foundational understanding of key topics including:

  • Safer sex

  • Sexually transmitted infections: symptoms, treatment & prevention

  • Harm reduction & risk management

  • Sexual anatomy

  • Pregnancy & birth control

  • Relationship dynamics

  • Sexual communication

  • Consent

  • Pleasure

  • Sex toys & pornography

PLEASE NOTE: This is an introductory foundational course on human sexuality. As with any course of study, there is no way to “complete” an education in human sexuality, and 40 hours is not nearly enough time to cover all of the intricate, fascinating, and evolving components. Recommendations for continued education will be provided on the final day.

The Fall 2023 session meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 40 AASECT CE Credits. These CE Credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification.
